Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game-winning goal…)
MURRAY: “It was a special kind of shift. That’s a shift you would pull off (video) and show your team and encourage them to follow that template. It was a 35-, 40-second shift, cycling, moving their feet, finding people, and then a great effort at the end, by Stoll, to pounce on that loose puck. An important goal for us, obviously. It takes your top players to go out and make it happen for you.”

(on the first-period play…)
MURRAY: “It was a good first period, as far as the structure and the attitude about getting pucks in, getting on it on the forecheck. We were skating very well. I thought we stirred up some loose pucks on boards, recovered them and made good things happen. You get it up top, with traffic. We got a couple goals off that look, so I’d like to encourage that same start, every game.”

(on how things got away from them in the second period…)
MURRAY: “It looked like some penalties started to kick in on us. They made a great play on their power-play goal. A seem pass, weak-side defenseman to the man in front of the net, with composure to find the weak side. It’s hockey. We maybe could have handled it a little bit better, a little more composed, but we got through it and came back in the third period and brought work back to our game again.”

(on building on this win…)
MURRAY: “We know the importance of every game. Whenever you win on the road like this, it’s critical that you use it, and talk about it and that players know and get reinforced with solid play and bring that kind of energy. That’s something that we have to do every game the rest of the game, now, is to have that kind of a first period and bring ourselves into the game right away with compete and a great attitude. If we do that, then we’re going to be OK.”
