Tonight’s game is the first of back-to-back games between the Kings and Phoenix Coyotes (they meet again Saturday in Arizona). How important are these two games for the Kings? The Coyotes are in third place in the Pacific Division and sixth place in the Western Conference. If the Kings sweep the two games, they will be only two points behind. If they lose both games, they will be 10 points behind. The Coyotes had been white-hot, with a 6-0-1 run, but they have now suffered consecutive losses, 4-2 to San Jose on Monday and 5-2 to Nashville on Tuesday. For some of the latest on the Coyotes, check out the Arizona Republic game story from the Coyotes-Predators game, and a recent story on the Coyotes’ defense. The Kings are scheduled to have their morning skate at 10 a.m. in El Segundo.
