Short-term outlook good for Simmonds

Just about the only positive news for the Kings in the past couple days was the revelation that Wayne Simmonds apparently won’t be out of the lineup for long. Simmonds was hurt when he got his leg caught in a scrum during Saturday’s game against Edmonton, and Simmonds did not join the Kings on the two-game road trip but an MRI revealed no major problems. Terry Murray said he wasn’t sure if Simmonds would skate today in Los Angeles but indicated that he was optimistic that Simmonds could return to the lineup Thursday against Phoenix.

MURRAY: “No tears, no breaks, no chips, no strains. Everything is good. It’s just a little bit of swelling, but he was feeling better yesterday and I’m sure he will be much better today. It’s just a matter of treatment.”
