Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the penalty-shot chance at the end…)
MURRAY: “We had a chance. The goaltender makes a good save. That was about all there was to the opportunity. There’s lots going on around the net. It’s close to going in. The referee makes a good call on it and we get the penalty shot. We don’t score. It’s like a shootout.”
(on the lack of puck-possession time after Williams’ goal…)
MURRAY: “Not a lot of puck possession after that, no. There were plays that were attempted. We had possession of the puck down low. We make a pass, we don’t handle it, the puck comes around the boards and we didn’t roll into it and battle it. There was just too much over the top of us, and we weren’t able to deal with that look tonight, to make another second or third play.”
(on Bernier’s game…)
MURRAY: “He played good. He had some work early in the game, and I thought he was composed and made the saves that he had to make. Two power-play goals against. One is a high tip, around the hash mark, and the other is a back-post hard pass that, we’ve got to block that guy out. That’s not a play that you’re going to see a goaltender make. Maybe you make a spectacular save on it. But we just spent too much time in our own end. We won the faceoff on that one PK, but we don’t get it out. We gave their skill players a lot of opportunities.”
(on the Stars’ play…)
MURRAY: “They were playing a different style, a different look on the checking part of the game. They’re just getting above you. They have five guys above you, and you’ve got to come through them. We didn’t make that second or third pass, or come with the right kind of look, to give the puck-carrier the support to be able to continue the plays.”
