Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings ended their season-long eight-game homestand with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
— The Kings went 2-6-0 on the homestand and were outscored by a margin of 29-23 during the eight games. The Kings now play 13 of their next 16 games on the road.
— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Kings have now not scored a power-play goal in three consecutive games, but also have not allowed a power-play goal in four consecutive games (10-for-10).
— The Kings were outshot by the Oilers 26-23. The Kings have held their opponents to 28 or fewer shots on goal in seven of their last eight games, and they improved to second in the NHL in average shots on goal against, at 27.7 per game (New Jersey leads, at 27.5).
— The Kings are now15-8-1 at home, 19-7-0 when scoring the first goal and 14-0-0 when leading after the second period. The Kings are also 21-6-0 when scoring at least three goals and 20-3-0 when allowing fewer than three goals. The Kings had allowed three or more goals in five consecutive games.
— The six previous games between the Kings and Oilers at Staples Center had gone to shootouts, and the Oilers had won five of them.
— Jonathan Bernier stopped 24 of 26 shots for the win. Bernier had allowed a total of 11 goals (on 50 shots) in his two previous starts, but helped shut out the Oilers over the final 44 minutes on Saturday.
— Jarret Stoll had two goals. Stoll now has five goals in his last five games, after going 15 consecutive games without a goal.
— Drew Doughty had one goal and one assist. The goal was Doughty’s third of the season and broke a streak of 13 consecutive games without a goal. It was Doughty’s eighth multi-point game of the season.
— Marco Sturm had one goal and one assist. Sturm has two goals and three assists in his last five games and, in his 13 games with the Kings, has four goals and four assists.
— Anze Kopitar had one goal and broke a streak of nine consecutive games without a goal. Kopitar did have 10 assists in those nine games.
— Dustin Brown had two assists for his 11th multi-point game of the season. Brown had recorded only one point (an assist) in his previous eight games.
— Rob Scuderi had one assist. Scuderi has 11 assists and 12 points this season, which puts him four short of tying his career highs in both categories. Scuderi had 15 assists and 16 points with Pittsburgh in 2008-09.
— Wayne Simmonds had one assist, but had to leave the game early in the second period with a lower-body injury. Simmonds has one goal and one assist in his last three games, after going seven consecutive games without a point.
— Justin Williams had one assist. Williams has one goal and two assists in his last four games.
— Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams each were credited with a team-high three shots on goal. Drew Doughty was credited with five hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with two blocked shots.
— Anze Kopitar led all Kings in ice time, at 22:36. Drew Doughty led all Kings defensemen at 22:15. It was only the second time this season, in 44 games, that a forward led the Kings in ice time, and not a defenseman. Kopitar played a team-high 23:33 at Calgary on Oct. 10.
— The Kings won 31 of 54 faceoffs (57 percent). Anze Kopitar won 11 of 16 draws (69 percent) and Jarret Stoll won 12 of 20 draws (60 percent).
