Postgame notes (Jan. 13)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings lost for the seventh time in their last eight games, as they fell to the St. Louis Blues 3-1 on Thursday night.

— The Kings are now 1-6-0 on this season-long homestand, with only Saturday night’s game against Edmonton remaining. Following their last road game, on Dec. 29, the Kings were in fourth place in the Western Conference. Now they’re in 11th place.

— The Kings have been outscored 27-18 in the first seven games of the homestead and have allowed three or more goals in six of the seven games.

— The Kings outshot the Blues 25-21, including 11-4 in the third period. The 21 shots against were the second-fewest this season. The Kings allowed 19 shots on goal in a 4-1 victory over Vancouver on Oct. 15.

— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill. They have faced only one power-play-against in each of their last two games. The total penalty minutes (six) was the fewest in any Kings game this season. The Kings had only two penally minutes. The last time they went through a game without any penalty minutes was Feb. 19, 1977, against the Boston Bruins.

— The Kings are now 14-8-1 at home — after an 11-2-0 start at home — and are 5-12-0 when allowing the first goal, 1-7-0 when trailing after the first period and 3-13-1 when trailing after the second period.

— Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 21 shots. He has allowed at least three goals in five of his last six starts, and during that span his goals-against average has risen from 1.86 to 2.20, and his save percentage has dropped from .932 to .918.

— Michal Handzus scored the Kings’ lone goal, three seconds after the end of a second-period power play. Handzus now has three goals in his last five games, after he totaled only four goals in his first 38 games.

— Alec Martinez had an assist. Martinez, who had gone 13 consecutive games without a point, now has four assists in his last five games.

— Jack Johnson had an assist, on his 24th birthday. Johnson now has two goals and 11 assists in his last 12 games.

— Anze Kopitar recorded a team-high five shots on goal. Dustin Brown and Drew Doughty were each credited with four hits and Willie Mitchell was credited with four blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty, who played in his 200th NHL game, led the Kings in ice time at 24:30. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 22:10.

— The Kings won 27 of 57 faceoffs (47 percent). Michal Handzus won 8 of 13 draws (62 percent) while Jarret Stoll won 7 of 17 (41 percent).
