The view from Toronto

Here’s a sampling of how last night’s Kings-Maple Leafs game — the Leafs’ third consecutive win and fourth consecutive road win — was presented in the Toronto media, followed by some additional postgame quotes from the Maple Leafs’ locker room…

COACH RON WILSON
(on Reimer’s performance…) “He was outstanding all night. Every time we needed a whistle, he’s cool and calm, doesn’t give up very many rebounds. Like I said, coolly and calmly settles stuff down when the other team is all over us. He did a great job.”

(on going for his 600th win Tuesday in San Jose, against his former team…) “I have 599, so somewhere along the line I’ll get another win, but tomorrow night…the hockey gods are being a little bit ironic here.”

(on Luke Schenn…) “You’re seeing two of a great class of defensemen, Drew Doughty and Luke out there. They’re both the same age and they play the most minutes. It’s unbelievable.”

(on winning four out of five games…) “It is a little bit of the ebb and flow. We’ve had great goaltending, we’re healthy, almost as best we can be with the exception of Giggy [Jean-Sebastien Giguere] and Brownie [Mike Brown] but other guys have filled in really well. We’ve got balanced scoring now. We’ve got everyone on the three lines clicking and I think that’s huge.”

JAMES REIMER
(on the game…) “They [the Kings] came hard. They had a lot of pressure, dumping pucks in and going after it. Kudos to the guys again. They battled hard and worked hard on the corners and on the boards and blocking shots. They did a heck of a job.

(on his play…) “I feel pretty comfortable out there, but I mean, they’re good players and a good team and you always have to give them credit, give them respect. And so I just tried to shut everything out of my mind and focus on the puck.”

(on the third period…) “It was tough. In the last period of the game, the team that’s down is always going to push hard, especially when they have an extra man or extra two men in this case. Again, I just tried to take it shot by shot, tried not to look at the clock and just focus on the puck.”

(on being sent down when Jean-Sebastien Giguere returns…) “Giguere’s the guy and he’s a heck of a goalie. I know my role, and that’s just when called upon, just to make saves and help the team win and nothing more. So when he comes back I’ll most likely obviously go down and I’ll just keep doing the same thing and getting better and hopefully get another chance.”
