Extension for Johnson?

ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Kings are on the verge of a multi-year contract extension with Jack Johnson. When I get some details on this, I’ll definitely share them, but Pierre is definitely a guy to trust, and he says it’s six or seven years, in the range of $4-4.5 million per year. Johnson turns 24 in a few days and is due to be a restricted free agent this summer. An interesting side note is that Johnson, essentially, has been serving as his own agent for at least the past year, perhaps a bit longer.

[UPDATE] Kings GM Dean Lombardi, asked for comment on the report of a contract agreement with Johnson, responded with, “Close.” It’s probably safe to say that we’ll hear something official in the next few days.
