End of first: 0-0

The Kings did relatively well to get out of the first period in a scoreless tie. The Kings played well early, but Dustin Brown took an offensive-zone holding penalty at the 10:03 mark and then, three seconds later, Drew Doughty was called for a delay-of-game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass.

That gave the Sharks a 5-on-3 power play for 1:57, but San Jose didn’t score and generated two shots on goal. The Kings outshot the Sharks 9-5 in the first period and will be on the power play for the first 55 seconds of the second period.
