Postgame notes (Dec. 27)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings scored four third-period goals to break a scoreless tie and beat the San Jose Sharks 4-0 on Monday night in San Jose.

— Trevor Lewis and Marco Sturm scored on the Kings’ first and second shots of the third period, respectively — at 2:08 and 3:19 — and Dustin Brown added two third-period goals. Anze Kopitar had three assists.

— The Kings have now won four consecutive games and have a 9-2-1 record in their last 12 games after their 1-7-0 late-November slide.

— The Kings set a season high with 37 shots on goal and held the Sharks to 24 shots. At one point, late in the first period, shots were 15-1 in the Kings’ favor. The Kings previously had 36 shots on goal against Columbus (Nov. 17) and Buffalo (Nov. 19).

— The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Kings have killed 16 of their last 17 penalties and had scored a power-play goal in eight of their previous nine games before Monday.

— Jonathan Quick recorded his fourth shutout of the season and his third shutout in his last six starts. Quick made 24 saves and became the third Kings goalie ever to record a shutout in San Jose, following Stephane Fiset and Jason LaBarbera. Quick is now second in the NHL in goals-against average, at 1.86 (Tim Thomas leads at 1.68) and is third in the NHL in save percentage, at .932 (Thomas leads at .949).

— The Kings are now 17-3-0 when scoring the first goal.

— Dustin Brown scored two goals and now holds the team lead with 16 goals, one more than Anze Kopitar. Brown also led the Kings with seven shots on goal. In 12 December games, Brown has seven goals and 12 assists, including seven multi-point games.

— Anze Kopitar set his season-high with three assists and tied his season-high with a three-point game. In 12 December games, Kopitar has seven goals and 10 assists, including six multi-point games.

— Marco Sturm scored his first goal of the season, in his fourth game with the Kings.

— Trevor Lewis opened the scoring with a third-period goal.

— Jack Johnson had one assist. Johnson has a four-game assist streak (and also scored a goal in that span) and has 21 assists in 35 games.

— Drew Doughty had one assist. Doughty has one goal and nine assists in his last eight games.

— Brad Richardson had one assist.

— Matt Greene had one assist, for his second assist (and point) of the season.

— Dustin Brown was credited with a team-high seven shots on goal. Matt Greene was credited with four hits and Jack Johnson was credited with five blocked shots.

— Jack Johnson played a game-high 25 minutes, 32 seconds. Justin Williams led all Kings forwards in ice time at 18:20.

— The Kings won 24 of 44 faceoffs (55 percent). Anze Kopitar won 8 of 13 draws (62 percent).
