Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
MURRAY: “We played with an attitude, all through the 60 minutes. I loved our start. We had great offensive-zone time. We had lots of pucks to the net. We had a shot mentality and recovered a lot of pucks. The second period, we fell off it a little bit. We had a big (penalty) kill at the start of the second period. I thought we fell off our game a little, with skating and just doing the right things. Or doing the same things, I guess, that we were doing in the first. But we got it back, and then in the third period, you just keep going with it and you’re hoping something breaks, something gives. And it does, and you go from there.”
(on Kopitar’s pass to Brown…)
MURRAY: “It’s just to get it going north. That’s the most important thing. You wonder if it’s going to be an offsides. I’ve only seen that play connect one time before, ever. It was a pretty creative move and, really, just to release pressure it’s the right kind of look to make, too. Get it over the top, the old moon shot, and then you just hope that maybe something happens off of it.”
(on Quick’s play…)
MURRAY: “Quick was good. I thought we played well in front of him. The defensemen, and their responsibilities on the checking side of it, were very good. He had some stops in the second period. That’s where I felt we got off our game a little bit, with managing the puck. We had some turnovers, and they’re such a dynamic group, that top line especially. They feed off the missed pass, the turnover, and come back at you very hard. And Quick was there.”
(on the good energy…)
MURRAY: “We knew that we had to come out and play a good-tempo game. We came in here recently and we know what happened. They came at us. So there was some redemption, that he just had to come out and play the right way. They, again, have been rested. We played last night. There were all these built-in reasons for a first period that might not go the way you want it to go. So everybody was focused. The guys came out with the right attitude.”
(on Marco Sturm’s goal…)
MURRAY: “Just shoot the puck. Who knows what happens. It’s great for him. I thought he had a real good game. His contribution was there for the 60 minutes. He scored the goal. He made a good play on Brown’s other goal. Doughty shot the puck and he’s right there in front of the net, screening the goaltender. He’s in the right place. He moved the puck very well here tonight. So it looks like he’s starting to get his feet under himself again.”
