Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on his long pass to Brown…)
KOPITAR: “We have (connected). We have connected a few times, but it just wasn’t a case like this. Either a D was back, so it wasn’t a clear-cut breakaway. Tonight it worked out pretty well.”
(on breaking through in the third period…)
KOPITAR: “That’s one of the things I think we’ve improved on as a team, as opposed to just sitting back and waiting for them, basically, to get on us. Instead, we’re just going right after them again, and we got the goal right after, and a few goals right after. That’s when you, I guess, step on their throat and put them right away. It’s putting them away. That’s what good teams do, and not taking any chances of them coming back.”
(on not getting frustrated after not scoring early…)
KOPITAR: “Frustrating? I think it was, a little bit. We had some good chances, but in that case, you just can’t get too down. It is what it is. He’s a world-class goalie. He won the Stanley Cup last year, so obviously he’s a great goalie, but you just have to keep on doing the things we were doing. We cracked him at the end, and we took two points.”
(on building chemistry with Sturm on his line…)
KOPITAR: “We’re seeing a little chemistry there going. We had some good shifts in the offensive zone. I don’t think we made any awful reads coming back in our zone. There’s still some room for improvement, of course, with Marco getting to know me and Brownie a little bit more, and just reading off each other a little bit more, but I thought the offensive zone was pretty good. We were cycling the puck pretty good. We were holding onto it and making plays, so that’s encouraging.”
