Some notes from last night’s game…
— The Kings, winners of four of their previous five games, allowed two third-period goals and lost to the St. Louis Blues 6-4 on Thursday.
— The Kings had leads of 1-0 and 2-1, and outshot the Blues 12-7 in the third period of a game that was tied until Alexander Steen scored the game-winning goal with 2:53 remaining in the third period.
— The Kings went 2-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill. One of the Kings’ power-play goals was a 5-on-3 goal, and the other came one second after a 5-on-3 advantage ended. The Kings scored more than one power-play goal in a game for the first time since Nov. 11 against Dallas — a span of 15 games — and allowed more than one power-play goal in a game for the first time since Nov. 19 at Buffalo, a span of 11 games.
— The Kings were outscored 2-0 in the third period. They had outscored their opponents 7-1 in the third periods of their last five games.
— Willie Mitchell left the game late in the first period because of an undisclosed lower-body injury. Mitchell was in his second game back after missing 14 games with a broken wrist.
— The Kings were outshot 31-29. They have failed to reach the 30-shot-on-goal plateau in eight of their last nine games.
— The Kings are now 6-9-0 on the road and 13-3-0 when scoring the first goal.
— Anze Kopitar had one goal and one assist. Kopitar now has a team-high 14 goals and has six goals in his last six games, along with three assists. Kopitar has three consecutive two-point games and four three-point games in his last four games. Kopitar also has two power-play goals in his last four games.
— Coming off his career-high 51 saves against Detroit on Monday, goalie Jonathan Quick allowed a season-high five goals on 30 shots.
— Dustin Brown had one goal and one assist. Brown has a six-game point streak, during which he has two goals and seven assists, and has recorded three consecutive two-point games.
— Wayne Simmonds had a second-period goal. After a nine-game goal drought, Simmonds now has goals in back-to-back games.
— Ryan Smyth had a first-period power-play goal. It was his second goal in his last three games, both of which were on the power play.
— Jack Johnson had two assists, both of which came on the power play. Johnson is now tied for the team lead with 17 assists, 10 of which have come on the power play.
— Kyle Clifford had one assist. After not recording a point in his first 19 NHL games, Clifford now has one goal and three assists in his last six games.
— Michal Handzus had one assist. Handzus had gone nine consecutive games without a point and 14 consecutive games without an assist.
–Anze Kopitar had a team-high six shots on goal. Dustin Brown was credited with a team-high four hits and Jack Johnson was credited with a team-high four blocked shots.
— Drew Doughty played a game-high 29 minutes, 42 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 21:39.
— The Kings won 25 of 61 faceoffs (41 percent). Trevor Lewis lost 10 of 12 draws (17 percent) and Jarret Stoll won 8 of 12 (67 percent).
