Postgame notes (Dec. 11)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings had their three-game winning streak snapped as they lost to the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in overtime Saturday night.

— The Kings went 1-for-9 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill. The nine power plays was a season high for the Kings, but they failed to record a shot on goal during a four-minute power play with the score tied in the third period. The Kings are 2-for-22 on the power play in the last five games and, for the season, rank 27th in the NHL in power-play efficiency (14.4 percent). The Kings are ranked fourth in the league in penalty-kill efficiency (85.6 percent).

— The Kings are now 4-8-1 when allowing the first goal, 1-4-1 when trailing after the first period and 3-7-1 when trailing after the second period. The Kings had been 4-0 in games that went beyond regulation.

— The Kings outshot the Wild 26-21. The Kings have allowed fewer than 30 shots on goal in six consecutive games and, for the season, they’re allowing an average of 27.6 shots on goal, the third-fewest in the NHL.

— Jonathan Quick stopped 18 of 21 shots and snapped a streak of five consecutive games in which he allowed two or fewer goals.

— Dustin Brown scored a second-period goal, his 10th of the season. Brown had gone eight consecutive games without a goal. Brown also assisted on Smyth’s goal, and has recorded an assist in four consecutive games.

— Ryan Smyth scored a third-period power-play goal. Smyth had gone six consecutive games without a goal.

— Anze Kopitar assisted on both Kings goals. Kopitar has recorded 18 points in his last 15 games (eight goals, 10 assists).

— Justin Williams had one assist. Williams has 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 27 games this season. Last season, he had 29 points in 49 games.

— Rob Scuderi played in his 400th NHL game and his 100th game as a King.

— Drew Doughty, Dustin Brown and Jarret Stoll each had four shots on goal. Alexei Ponikarovsky was credited with a team-high five hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty played a game-high 29 minutes, 11 seconds. Dustin Brown led all Kings forwards in ice time at 23:24.

— The Kings won 37 of 68 faceoffs (54 percent). Jarret Stoll won 13 of 20 draws (65 percent).
