Kings win game, Doughty loses wind

Tempers flared during the final seconds of last night’s game. Calgary’s Rene Bourque was called for slashing, but video replays appeared to show — and Drew Doughty confirmed — that Bourque actually speared Doughty in the nether regions while they battled in front of the net. During the scrum, Kings goalie Jonathan Quick jumped on at least one Flames player. Doughty’s reaction to that, after the game, was to smile and say, “That was great. It’s good to know the goalie has your back.”

Terry Murray said he didn’t expect Bourque to face any further discipline, saying, “It was a two-minute minor. Unless there’s a report filed after, by the referees, or a linesman steps in and talks about it, I don’t think there will be anything further.” Told that Doughty spoke of having the wind knocked out of him, Murray deadpanned, “That’s what happens when you get speared below the belt.”
