Some notes from last night’s game…
— Anze Kopitar scored with less than one minute remaining in overtime as the Kings beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Saturday night.
— In the ever-volatile Western Conference, the Kings moved from ninth place to fourth place with the win, and from fourth place to second place in the Pacific Division.
— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. They remain the NHL’s only team not to have allowed a power-play goal at home this season (43-for-43).
— The Kings are 15-10-0, for 30 points. Through 25 games last season, they were 14-9-2, for 30 points.
— The Kings were outshot 29-25. They have failed to get more than 25 shots on goal in four of their last five games, but have also held opponents under 30 shots on goal in four consecutive games.
— Jonathan Quick stopped 27 of 29 shots. Quick has allowed only two goals in each of his last four starts and has allowed fewer than three goals in 13 of his 18 starts this season.
— Anze Kopitar had one goal and one assist. The goal was Kopitar’s second career overtime goal, following one on Nov. 10, 2007 against Dallas. Kopitar has 15 points and his last 13 games (seven goals, eight assists).
— Justin Williams had one goal and one assist and has recorded at least one point in 16 of his last 19 games (eight goals, 12 assists).
— Alec Martinez had one goal and one assist for his first career multi-point game.
— Anze Kopitar had a game-high nine shots on goal, the most shots on goal for any Kings player this season (Justin Williams had eight on Nov. 15 against San Jose). Matt Greene was credited with a game-high seven hits and Jack Johnson was credited with a game-high four blocked shots.
— The Kings won 40 of 62 faceoffs (65 percent). Jarret Stoll won 14 of 21 draws (67 percent) and Michal Handzus won 12 of 18 draws (67 percent).
— Drew Doughty played a career-high 30 minutes, 41 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 24:06.
