Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
KOPITAR: “That was not the best one we’ve shown so far, in the last few years. It was just our game through the neutral zone. It wasn’t very sharp. We made a few too many turnovers, and they have the personnel to come right back and make you pay for it. That’s exactly what happened. We drew a couple penalties and they scored a couple power-play goals, and we couldn’t really get back into the game. We scored a 3-2 goal and a 4-3 goal, but we just couldn’t get back. We shot ourselves in the foot a few times tonight.”
KOPITAR: “We were containing pretty good, but if you give them a few shifts where they cycle the puck and they have a minute-long shift in your own end, that’s not good. They’re going to get the confidence, the swagger, the feel for the play in the O-zone. All hell broke loose. But it’s coming from not just the defensive zone. It’s coming from all over the place. Our forecheck wasn’t very good tonight. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time in their zone, at least not our line. It’s hard to play when you’re chasing the puck all the time.”
