Simmonds update

As previously noted, Wayne Simmonds participated in this morning’s skate and is expected to be in the lineup tonight for the Kings. Simmonds has to leave Thursday’s game early after a hit, late in the second period, by the Stars’ Matt Niskanen. The team announced that Simmonds had a lower-body injury, which was later described as a bruise, and after being “questionable” yesterday, Simmonds seems ready to go today.

“He just got me in the right place,” Simmonds said of the Niskanen hit. “As soon as he hit me, I just crumpled, but I’ve had some good treatment over the last couple days and I feel fine.”

Terry Murray concurred.

“He feels fine. It’s a bruise,” Murray said. “He’s going to feel a little bit of soreness and stiffness, but it’s not like there’s a torn muscle or a groin strain or something like that, where there’s further damage. It’s just a matter of tolerating what’s there, and playing.
