The Kings’ power play didn’t really take a step forward Wednesday, but at least it shuffled its feet a bit. The Kings went 0-for-4 with the man advantage against a Carolina team that had allowed seven power-play goals in its first five games. The Kings are now 1-for-20 on the power play this season and are ranked last in the league in power-play efficiency. They did, at least, generate five power-play shots on goal, following three games in which they totaled three power-play shots on goal. That, at least, gave Murray something positive to mention today. Today the Kings face a Phoenix team that has allowed only two power-play goals in four games.
MURRAY: “I thought we had some good looks. We had a great look on one play that was taken hard to the net, with Kopi. With the offensive-zone time, we moved it around. The ice was a little bit of a factor in the power-play situations last night, and maybe in the whole game. There were a lot of bouncing, rolling pucks. I could not believe how it got, so fast, to that look. That always plays a part when you’re trying to play a skill game.”
