Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the lack of success in Calgary…)
MURRAY: “The building has nothing to do with it. It’s what goes on on the ice that has everything to do with it. I thought the first half of the game, it was good. Both teams played hard and had probably equal chances, equal shots. But they took it away from us in the second half. In the second period, I don’t know if we had a lot after 12 or 13 minutes gone. There was nothing at the end of the second period, and then in the third period they really checked hard and didn’t give us too many quality chances after that. Unfortunately, we gave that game to them, with opportunities on the power play, the shorthanded goal, and then the second goal with a turnover, trying to make a cute play inside the offensive blue line, and they came right back at us.”
(on the number of penalties taken…)
MURRAY: “The timing of the penalties, yes, that’s always a concern. You have to make sure you’re disciplined at critical times in the game. Giving up power plays is something you’ve got to try to stay away from. Stuff is going to happen, but tonight we gave them the opportunities that, I felt, were careless plays.”
(on Bernier’s game…)
MURRAY: “Good. Bernier was good. I think, looking at the angle I had from the bench, the second goal ended up going off our defenseman’s stick. I thought his play was good. He made a lot of big stops.”
(on any possible changes for Tuesday…)
MURRAY: “I’ll have to think about that one. I have to take a look and review the game and re-assess everything.”
