Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the win…)
MURRAY: “It was a game where there really wasn’t a lot of space to do much. Both teams checked very well, especially after crossing offensive blue lines. When you look at the numbers, just the shots on goal, it’s a good indication of not a lot of room to make plays. It was more of grit and grind and getting plays to the net off loose pucks that were hunted down off chip-ins. Getting the power play, it was a critical moment in the game, and just good composure with holding onto the puck and making some plays. Kopitar holding onto it, drifting up top and then getting it back to the net. Zeus makes an unbelievable play. He just turns his right foot and the puck deflects and there is it for Williams with a tap-in at the back door. So it was great to tie it up at that time.”

(on Kopitar’s injury…)
MURRAY: “It’s one of those follow-throughs. It’s an accidental play. That’s a forward trying to clear a puck. That’s just accidental. It’s a non-call. It works both ways.”

(on Mitchell’s Kings debut…)
MURRAY: “I thought Willie did a good job. There was a lot of anxiety in his game, I’m sure, tonight, in his own mind, not in his game. To get that first one, after about eight months of being away from the game, and especially back home here in Vancouver, that’s pretty emotional for him. I’m glad it came early. He got through it.”

(on Quick’s game…)
MURRAY: “He was good. He was very good. He really was focused in. He was good on the composure side of things. You can tell when he’s on top of things, with his body language and how he’s following the puck, out in the crease and challenging, square to it. And what a great save on the first shooter (in the shootout). Not a lot of goalies would make that one.”

(on Schenn’s game…)
MURRAY: “The one thing, when he played the game here last year, that we were really excited about was his understanding. He was in the top five forwards on the ice tonight, on both teams. He was that good. Intelligence, composure, a major contributor. He filled in for Kopitar when he was out for quite a while with the high stick. Just a tremendous first night for him.”
