Terry Murray switched things up for tomorrow’s preseason game in Las Vegas and will pair Peter Harrold with Davis Drewiske, instead of Jake Muzzin as previously planned (when Thomas Hickey was still around). It’s all but certain that Muzzin will be in the lineup for next Saturday’s season opener, but who will his partner be, Drewiske or Harrold? Here’s what Murray said about his defensive options, and what he said when asked about Harrold’s training-camp performance…
MURRAY: “I think it comes down to maybe some other parts of the game. We need people on the second power-play look. Muzzin has done a very good job, and if he continues to do that in his remaining game, then that will be brought into the equation, as far as what we need to look at when making a decision.
“Peter Harrold has had a good training camp. He spent the whole summer working out right here at the Toyota Center, and following our strength and conditioning coach religiously. His conditioning, his testing, on and off the ice, has been a dramatic improvement, on the on-ice in particular. So I like what I’ve seen in camp. His ability to come back with back-to-back shifts, to play a lot, to recover, that was a concern of mine a year ago and two years ago, but I’m seeing a much better player. He will play on the back end in this exhibition game (in Las Vegas), and the possibility of him being in the lineup is pretty good, with Matt Greene out for several games with the shoulder injury.”
