Sound and fury

Roberto Luongo must be very, very tired of hearing the Staples Center goal horn. He heard it eight times on April 1 and then five more times last night, including after each of the four goals he allowed before getting pulled from the game in the second period. Luongo is still a world-class goalie, of course, and given his up-and-down play this season, it certainly wouldn’t be a shock to see him bounce back strong, but last night Terry Murray talked about his team’s play against Luongo so far…

MURRAY: “Well, our attitude has been, going into the series, that he’s their best player and we don’t want him to be their best player throughout the series. Most important is getting traffic against top goaltenders. If you’re going to play away from the net, which I thought we were doing in the first game, goaltenders like that make saves every time. We’re getting better at it. I know he’s going to bounce back. I’ve seen him. I was in Florida when we traded for him, so I know he’s going to bounce back.”
