Monarchs sweep Portland

The AHL Manchester Monarchs completed a first-round Calder Cup playoff sweep of the Portland Pirates tonight with a 7-2 victory in Manchester. The Monarchs got two goals from Trevor Lewis and one goal each from Andrew Campbell, Bud Holloway, Oscar Moller, Kevin Westgarth and Joe Piskula. Andrei Loktionov had three assists. Jonathan Bernier stopped 44 of 46 shots and, in the four-game series, Bernier allowed only five goals. The Monarchs advance to the second round to face either Worcester or Lowell, and Worcester leads that first-round series 3-1.
