Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
MURRAY: “There was not much good out of that one there tonight. I thought the penalty kill — obviously, with the four-minute minor and then to come back and kill another one, six minutes in the first period — was really good, and that should have energized us, and it didn’t. After that, there’s not much we can draw and take, as far as positives. There’s a lot of things that we need to address, and attitude is maybe the biggest one.”

(on the poor play throughout the game…)
MURRAY: “Well, the penalty kill was really good in the first period. The six minutes, that was huge. Not bad the rest of the first period. The second period started with their puck possession. It wasn’t that we looked bad. I thought they looked very good. They kept the puck. They just kept moving it around and we couldn’t get it back. You’ve got to get some pins and seals and close fast and be able to recover the loose pucks. They wouldn’t let us do that. They played a keep-away game.”

(on his definition of a better “attitude”…)
MURRAY: “It’s the playoff kind of a mode that we’re looking for right now. Again, the positive out of that first period is the penalty kill, and that’s where you’ve got to elevate your game. That’s now a reason to build your game and have some great shifts, and just build on the momentum of the work that was just accomplished. We just kept going and playing, and then we got into the second period and we took a step backwards with it. That’s the attitude, that’s the critical point in the game when you have to recognize that there was great goaltending, great saves, the guys out on the PK did an excellent job, and that’s the opportunity and need for everybody to recognize and take off and start doing some good things.”

(on whether the team was properly prepared…)
MURRAY: “We were ready for the game. Six minutes of penalty kill. We were ready to play. It was a great start to the game. Unfortunately the high stick happens right away, in the very early part of the game, and you respond with big penalty kills. There was no problem with the start of the game. The attitude was great, and it was in the second period when we started chasing the game.”
