Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts…
(on the goalie-interference call, and subsequent non-call…)
SMYTH: “I saw the play on both ends. If you’re going to call it one way, call it the other way. But he made his call based on what he saw, and it didn’t work out in our favor.”
(on his interference call…)
SMYTH: “The puck was shot and it went off my stick. So my stick was in (the crease) with him [Rinne], so he ended up saying that I interferred with him. But he was over there. I thought Willy made a good play by getting it in.”
(on the Kings’ poor overall play…)
SMYTH: “We didn’t get out to the start we wanted. That’s unacceptable. We’re playing against a team that’s behind us in the standings, and they’re fighting for a playoff spot. We’ve got to keep climbing the standings, so it wasn’t the effort we wanted.”
