Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
KOPITAR: “I think everybody, before the game, kind of knew that we had to get a good start. It’s obviously the case every night, but especially after this break. You could sense that maybe not every pass was going to be sharp, and timing was going to be a little off, but we just wanted to be in good position to support each other as much as we could. I thought we did a really good job in the first period. In the second period, we obviously broke through and in the third period we maybe let down a little bit. It was enough tonight, but definitely going forward we can’t let down like that. We just have to keep going forward and playing.”
(on passing last season’s team point total…)
KOPITAR: “I think it’s just the build-up from last year. Last year we played some good hockey and we got to 79 (points) but we obviously missed the playoffs. To be good in this league, you have to stay consistent. I’ve said it many times before, but it is what it is. Even if I go back to my first year, we split the Anaheim series 4-4, and they won the Stanley Cup. Everybody can beat everybody, and it’s just a matter of staying consistent.”
