Quick postgame quotes

Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…

(on the team’s success this season…)
QUICK: “The team has done a great job of maturing and coming together. Right from the summer, we put a big emphasis on gelling together as a team and coming together as a team, and I think it has really showed this year, so far. We’ve played some great hockey.”

(on the big defensive play in the second period…)
QUICK: “As a team, I thought our first and third periods were our best two periods. I think the main reason they did get opportunities in the second was because of power plays, but we did a great job of killing that. That gave us a boost of confidence and momentum, and we ended up scoring right after that, a couple minutes after that. At the end of the day, it was a big two points that was on the table, and it’s a team that we’re competing with for a playoff spot, so it was a big win.”

(on whether that was the best 60-minute game of the season…)
QUICK: “We’ve played some great games. I don’t know whether I could say that. We’ve played some great games. This was another great game. The team, overall, has played some solid games.”

(on whether the Kings “sent a message” before the Olympics…)
QUICK: “I think we have been sending a message. We have beaten some good teams. We have gone on the road and beaten some good teams, and we have beaten some good teams in our barn. I would not say it is today alone. Obviously Colorado is a great team. They are in a similar situation to us.  They were not really picked, overall, to do that great at the beginning of the year. They have surprised some people just like we have. It is going to get a lot more competitive after the Olympic break. Everyone is going to be fighting a lot harder for the playoff spots, and we just have to be ready for that.”
