Kings notebook (Feb. 11)

Also… The Kings are 2-0 against Edmonton this season. Edmonton has lost 11 consecutive road games. Edmonton has scored two or fewer goals in eight of its last nine games. Edmonton is in last place in the Western Conference. It’s tempting to use the term “trap game” in relation to the Kings, but given that they just had a nine-game winning streak ended, and that there are only two games remaining before the Olympic break, it’s hard to think there won’t be strong focus brought to this game. Here’s what Terry Murray said today about the Oilers…

MURRAY: “They played pretty well in the last two games. I watched the game last night in Anaheim. At the end of the first period, they very easily could have been up by a couple (goals). They’re working through it. Sometimes it’s hard, but they’re working through it with a lot of intensity, and paying attention to their game. For us, as I’ve mentioned in the past, we don’t spend a lot of time looking at who the opponent is. We put a majority of it on our own game, and getting ourselves ready to play. That’s going to be critical tonight, that we approach this the right way and bring a good, competitive attitude.”
