Smyth postgame quotes

Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts…

(on winning the first home game after the long road trip…)
I think we came out, right off the hop, pretty good. Obviously there were all the scenarios, with the long flight, but I thought that we responded really well right away. Obviously they caught up to our speed and it made for a great game. Later on, in the second and most of the third, we were starting to stick to the game plan and do the simple things.”

(on his goal…)
SMYTH: “Brownie picked it up in the neutral zone there and crossed the blue line. He made a great pass and I just got it. I took it and I shot it quick, right over his glove. … I just wanted to get it away quick. It just happened to hit the goal post and go in.”

(on bringing a “road mentality” to the game…)
SMYTH: “We’re excited to be home and respond for the fans and get them on our side, but we just wanted to play simple. Sometimes that’s the best way. We just kept that road mentality, for sure.”
