Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the win…)
MURRAY: “That was a big win for us, for sure. Coming in here (and winning) is something that hasn’t happened much over the most recent years. We’ve had a couple of close games this year, right down to the last couple minutes, and could not pull it out. It’s a good feeling for this young group of guys, to come in and play the Detroit Red Wings and be able to win in a significant game at this time of the year.”

(on the rally…)
MURRAY: “That’s a good test of our character, I felt. It’s a very deep hole to dig out of, in this building, and the guys came out with a lot of determination in the second period. I thought the flow of the game and that attitude was outstanding. There were good things that were going on, with intensity and playmaking. Both teams were pretty exciting to watch in that second period, and we pulled it off in the end. It was a great play by Parse, simply going to the net and getting your stick on the ice, and he hits it and goes in.”

(on Kopitar’s play…)
MURRAY: “That was his best game of the year, tonight. He built up some momentum, off the last game at home, and I thought tonight he was a real horse. He was coming with speed, with a lot of authority to attack. Every time the puck was on his stick, he was at the net. He was in dirty areas, paying a price. He was very physical in battles for puck possession. He came up with them a lot of the time. His best game of the year.”

(on the first line…)
MURRAY: “Those three young guys are really thriving on each other. They like coming through the middle of the ice with the speed that they’re able to use. I think they are making a big statement to me, right now, with the way they’re digging in and playing. I’ll just go with it for a bit and see how it starts to unfold, chemistry-wise. If I’m getting Anze Kopitar as my No. 1 center iceman out of this experiment, of putting two young guys on the wing there, it’s going to pay off for us.”

(on the incident before the third period…)
MURRAY: “The referee came over and said that a fan, or somebody, got up into the catwalk area and there was concern as to whether he was going to be in danger. I said, `Well, are we going to wait?’ He said, `No, let’s go.”’
