The Kings tied the game 6:27 into the third period. Anze Kopitar did the hard work to get the puck in the corner. Wayne Simmonds got it and made a quick pass to Peter Harrold in the slot, and Harrold beat Howard with a wrist shot when Scott Parse providing traffic in front.
Also, in the “Only in Detroit” category, an entire section of Joe Louis Arena had to be cleared out at the start of the third period. Word is that a fan got into the rafters and in danger of either jumping or falling. Play continued, and eventually the situation was resolved — without the fan falling — allowing the fans to return to their seats.
