Greene update

Matt Greene went through another vigorous practice today, to the point where I actually had to ask him if he was playing tomorrow against San Jose. The answer was no, but here’s what Terry Murray said about Greene’s recovery, which certainly seems to be ahead of initial fears that Greene might be out for several weeks…

MURRAY: “He’s improving. He’s getting better, obviously, with the amount of work and skating that he’s doing. It’s the lateral-agility stuff that’s the issue. It’s not the north-south (skating). It’s going to be to his comfort (level), when it gets to that time. He’s pushing it so hard, off ice, that it’s looking pretty good.”

I asked Murray if it was realistic to think that Greene would return during the Kings’ upcoming five-game road trip, which starts Saturday in Detroit…

MURRAY: “I would say for sure during the road trip. Yes, absolutely. He’s coming around, because the medical staff is doing a great job, and he’s really digging in, to get back as fast as he can. It’s encouraging to see what he’s doing right now.”
