Kings 5, Sharks 0

The Kings scored two goals in 14 seconds. First, Ryan Smyth made it 4-0 on the power play. Drew Doughty made a strong play at the blue line to keep the puck in the San Jose zone, then faked a shot and passed right to Anze Kopitar, who skated in and shot from the middle of the right circle. Smyth, parked in front, tipped the puck past Nabokov.

Then, Brad Richardson chased down a puck behind the Sharks’ net and centered to Wayne Simmonds, who got position on San Jose’s Torrey Mitchell and scored with 3:18 remaining in the period.

The announcement, “One minute remaining in the second period,” was just met with cheers from some Sharks fans.
