Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts…
(on holding Ovechkin scoreless…)
DOUGHTY: I thought we did a fairly good job. When I was out there, he got maybe one or two good chances. He’s usually getting 10 or 12 chances a game. When we’re holding him to two chances, that’s great. Quicker played an unbelievable game and he helped us shut them down.”
(on Quick’s play…)
DOUGHTY: “He played fantastic. He has stolen so many games for us this year. He has probably been our MVP this year. Quicker has been great and he just keeps on doing this for us. You’ve got to give him credit.”
(on holding high-powered Washington to one goal…)
DOUGHTY: “We knew, coming in, that they scored a lot of goals. They’re the highest-scoring team in the NHL. We all knew that. The defense really took a lot of pride in that, and we knew that, together as a group, we wanted to shut them right down. The forwards did a great job too. When they got pucks in deep, they were keeping it in their end and cycling down low.”
