COACH BRUCE BOUDREAU
(on the game…)
“The last two periods, we were pretty good. I think we limited them to seven shots. It’s still no consolation when you lose, but it’s a better effort than we’ve been giving in the past couple games.”
(on Jonathan Quick…)
“I thought he was really good. I thought, in the first period, (if) we had shot more pucks we would have got him, but he got in the zone and was unbeatable after the Mike Green goal.”
(on his line juggling after Backstrom’s migraine…)
“We’re not used to playing without him and it (uproots the line combinations). It didn’t uproot it that much, but he is a talented player.”
BROOKS LAICH
“They get the shorthanded goal and that’s the difference in the game. I don’t think we played well in the first period, though, giving up three power plays and they come out with a 1-0 lead. To come out like that is unacceptable. I had a chance myself to tie the game with a wide open net and I missed it. I’ll take the blame for the power play not scoring. That’s my job, to score goals on the power play. If we put that in, it’s a tie game and it’s a different result.”
ALEX OVECHKIN:
(on the Kings’ shorthanded goal…)
“I just tried to hit (Brad Richardson) and the hit was not hard. (Richardson) just took the puck because I didn’t see the puck and I tripped on it.”
(on the game…)
“We just didn’t use our chances in the second period. They had one chance only (in the third period) and it was shorthanded.”
