Drew Doughty’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game-winning goal…)
DOUGHTY: “It was just kind of an unfortunate bounce. They kind of got a lucky bounce in the first place, when Jack stepped up there and it kind of bounced between his legs and kind of caused a 2-on-1. I tried going stick-on-puck, as he wound up with the puck, and I kind of got a stick on it and it might have threw Quicker off guard a little bit. It was a tough play and it was kind of an unlucky bounce.”
(on Doughty deflecting the shot, slightly, off Belanger’s stick…)
DOUGHTY: “I don’t know if that’s where he was aiming or not, but I did get a piece of it and that could have been why it went in, but I thought that was the right thing to do.”
(on giving up the game-winning goal 12 seconds after tying the game…)
DOUGHTY: “It’s unbelievable how quick that happened. Mentally, we had all the power there. We felt like, if we took it to overtime, we were going to win that game. Then they got that heartbreaker 12 seconds later. That can’t be happening if we want to win games.”
