Brown postgame quotes

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts, starting with his overtime winner…

(on his goal…)
BROWN: “It was off a broken play. They threw it out of our zone and I just got a jump on it. It was 2 on 1 with a backchecker. They backchecked pretty hard, and I just cut to the middle. I had it on my backhand and I just spun and shot. Obviously it wasn’t the hardest shot, but I think I got him when he was moving. I’m not really sure.”

(on ending the goal drought…)
BROWN: “It’s been a while. The only thing is, I could remember going through something like that last year. Definitely, I think this one was a little more tough. I’ve been getting a million chances, and sometimes it just doesn’t go in. It kind of works out that way. You get 10 million grade-A scoring chances, and then you throw one on net and it find a way.”

(on he, Kopitar and Purcell all ending their goal droughts…)
BROWN: “Me and Kopi, we’ve got a saying: `Stay hot.’ We’ve been saying it for about 15 games each. Finally, we can maybe not say that to each other.”

(on beating San Jose…)
BROWN: “Obviously it’s huge for our team, I think, not only in the standings but emotionally. It’s a big boost for us, knowing that we’re capable, when we want to, to play with these guys. They won the President’s Cup last year, and I think they’re first in the NHL right now. So from that standpoint, coming in here and getting points is a huge boost for us, especially in confidence.”

(on beating some of the top teams in the West…)
BROWN: “Especially the last two games. We played, arguably, the best two teams in the West right now, as of late, and not only did we beat them but they were close, tight checking games. Again, I think that’s a lot of the growing pains we went through last year. It’s 13-0 now, leading after two (periods), so that’s a big difference, especially going against teams like the San Jose Sharks.”
