It’s sort of amazing what is happening in Manchester, where the Monarchs are losing players by the handful and still winning. On Sunday, they lost Oscar Moller to the Kings and Drew Bagnall (lower-body injury) and Geoff Walker (upper-body injury) but beat Lowell 6-5. They got two goals from David Meckler, one each from Alec Martinez, Viatcheslav Voynov, Patrick Mullen and Dwight King (his first AHL goal), three assists from Gabe Gauthier and Corey Elkins and one assist from Juraj Mikus, who will soon need to be cloned in order to give the Monarchs a full roster. Jonathan Bernier won even though he allowed five goals on 33 shots. Here’s the game story from that game.
On Saturday, the Monarchs beat Worcester 5-4 in a shootout. Kevin Westgarth had two goals while Martinez and Marc-Andre Cliche had one goal. King had two assists and Jeff Zatkoff stopped 29 of 33 shots. For more details from that game, click here.
