Jack Johnson’s postgame thoughts…
(on Richardson’s goal…)
JOHNSON: “It was a great way for him to get his first. It was a huge goal for us. Obviously, these are big games for us, the crosstown rivalry, so I’m real happy for him to get that goal. He’s had a lot of chances and he’s been playing well for us, so great for him.”
(on the tough third period…)
JOHNSON: “They’re a great hockey team. I don’t think their record, or their place in the standings, is a reflection of how good they really are. They’ve got a lot of world-class talent out there, and you could see it there in the end, in the last two minutes when they had six great players out there. Our penalty killing did a fantastic job, and our goaltender was, and has been, our best penalty killer in our last few games, for sure.”
(on the importance of getting two points out of this game…)
JOHNSON: “It was big. We need to keep climbing in the standings and keep winning games, if we want to get to where we want to be at the end of the year. Anaheim is a team that is always in the playoffs, and if we want to get there we’ve got to beat them and beat the Western Conference teams.”
