Iron-man Quick

Tonight, goalie Jonathan Quick will start his 26th game out of the 28 the Kings have played. Given the way the Kings’ schedule shapes up before the holiday break, it’s entirely possible that Quick will end up starting 34 of the first 37, which would be remarkable. Between now and the break, the Kings have two sets of back-to-back games, and only one of them — Dec. 9 at San Jose, Dec. 10 vs. Phoenix — is a road/home split.

The risk, of course, is that Quick will get burned out, but it’s unlikely that he’s going to be asking for a day off any time soon, Terry Murray said…

MURRAY: “I don’t think you’ll ever get a hockey player who will come to a coach and say, `I don’t want to play tonight.’ I’ve never experienced that, and I don’t want to hear it either. He’s a goaltender. He’s a hockey player. He wants to play every night. Physically, he’s a strong kid. He’s thick, he’s heavy, he’s able to deal with all the traffic that’s out there in the game. He’s married now, and eating well and resting well, so I’ll just keep going with him.”
