Johnson postgame quotes

Jack Johnson’s postgame thoughts…

(on rallying from deficit in third period…)
JOHNSON: “There were still 20 minutes left in the hockey game. A lot can happen. Just because you’re down going into the third, there’s no reason to panic. Anything can happen. The team is capable of scoring, and we were definitely very confident going into the third, knowing that we had a great chance to come out and win.”

(on Florida’s third goal, and why Quick didn’t get his stick back…)
JOHNSON: “I think it was just total chaos. Nobody even really knew where the puck was. I think the puck went up in the air. Three of four of us were searching for it. We didn’t know he lost his stick. That was just a debacle there. I’m just glad we got a chance to make up for it in overtime.”

(on contributing to the victory…)
JOHNSON: “I wanted to help this team win. I made a pass that got picked off late in the third, and I wanted to do everything I could to make up for it, and make it up to the boys. I’m just glad I got the opportunity to try to get the go-ahead goal in the shootout. Quick bailed me out, stopping the third guy.”

(on the momentum off his power-play goal…)
JOHNSON: “Handzus was great, screening in front. I don’t even think Vokoun knew the pass came over to me. I think it sparked us a little bit. We were getting a lot of chances and not scoring, and sometimes that can be a little frustrating, but we’ve done a good job all year of just sticking to it and knowing that your luck is bound to turn sooner or later if you just keep working hard.”

(on finishing the trip with a 3-2 record…)
JOHNSON: “It’s a fairly successful road trip. Obviously you want to go 5-0, but you’re playing in the NHL and you’re playing a lot of games. I think if we can win more than we lose on the road, and win our home games, we’ll be in a great spot.”
