Kopitar postgame quotes

Anze Kopitar’s postgame thoughts…

(on his shootout goal…)
KOPITAR: “The shootout is always a lottery. We lost the first two shootouts we had this season, but I think it was a good win for us. When you shoot first, you always want to get the team going. I think after that, maybe it’s a little easier for the goalie to stop all three, but I’m really happy with the effort we put into the whole 65 minutes and that’s what it took today.”

(on winning the second of back-to-back games…)
KOPITAR: “Especially with the game we had last night. It was not fun, and it was a great bounce-back for our team. I think it showed the great character of this team, that we never let down and let it get under our skin. Hopefully we can keep it going.”

(on the goalie interference in overtime…)
KOPITAR: “Maybe that was the break we needed to win this game. It was definitely huge, to basically go from losing the game to getting into a shootout and then winning. It was great for us and hopefully we can build off that, go into Florida and win the last game of the road trip, which is always the most important.”

(on what changed from last night…)
KOPITAR: “Everybody was just competing a lot harder. We were winning loose-puck battles and everybody played for each other. Last night we got a couple goals down and everybody tried to do it themselves. We all know that’s not going to work in this league. Tonight it was a long hockey game with no score, and we just stuck to it, stuck to our system and ended up winning the game, which is great.”
