Veteran steps aside

Sean O’Donnell played 82 games in each of the past two seasons, but he will sit out a second consecutive game tonight, largely because, well, how could you really justify taking Randy Jones out? Particularly tonight, since the pace of play against the Thrashers figures to be very up-tempo. Here’s what Terry Murray said today about taking O’Donnell out, and how a veteran responds to that sort of move.

MURRAY: “I don’t want to get into explaining why I do things, on that part of it. I had a meeting with OD and we’re on the same page. … I’m just doing this for the L.A. Kings. This is not a personal thing. This is for the team. OD and I had a conversation. We talked about things and we have an understanding.”
