Shots were 11-8 in favor of the Kings, who had the best scoring chance of the period at the 9:15 mark when Alexander Frolov was in the clear but put a backhand shot into the right pad of Ondrej Pavelec. with just over four minutes left, Jonathan Quick made an outstanding save on Kozlov after a Raitis Ivanans turnover. Atlanta pushed the pace late, but the Kopitar and Handzus lines had strong play throughout the period for the Kings. The Kings will be on the power play for the first 1:18 of the second period.
