Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on the victory…)
QUICK: “When you have the defending champs in your rink, you’re going to use it as a measuring stick, and the team played really great. We played a great team game and it all worked out pretty well.”
(on the team’s confidence level…)
QUICK: “Obviously pretty confident after a game like that, but we can’t get ahead of ourselves here. We’ve got to realize that you’ve got a long season ahead of you. We’ve got a game on Saturday here. We’ve just got to get back to work tomorrow in practice and focus on Saturday’s game.”
(on beating the Stanley Cup champs…)
QUICK: “Obviously they’re a great team. The team battled real hard today in order to get that win. Obviously you’ve got to feel good about yourself, but tomorrow you’ve got to refocus and get ready for Saturday.”
(on the third-period turnaround…)
QUICK: “I don’t think there was anything that happened that was a big turnaround. The team, we were generating opportunities the whole game but Fleury was making some big saves in the first two periods. We just kept doing what we were doing, all the little things, and it paid off.”
(on rebounding from the early goal…)
QUICK: “You’ve just got to forget about it. It’s a long game. There’s 59 minutes left in the game there. There’s a lot of hockey to be played. It put the game at 1-1, so you just have to forget about it and refocus. The team did a great job of refocusing. It didn’t get to anyone. You just keep playing your game, and that’s exactly what we did. We just kept playing our game and we got the bounces there at the end.”
