Smyth postgame quotes

Ryan Smyth’s postgame thoughts…

(on the play of the first line…)
SMYTH: “I think the big thing is, we were cycling really well and taking the puck to the net at the right times. We got rewarded. I thought Willy made some great plays on the wall, that sometimes we just throw away instead of holding onto it a little bit longer. It was working well. I thought we had a little lull there in the second. I’ve got to give them credit. They played well and they took the lead, but we built some character in this locker room tonight, going into the third, and I think that was a big step.”

(on the second intermission message…)
SMYTH: “I think we gave them a lot, with turnovers, and they capitalized. I thought we played really well in the first period and they carried the momentum into the second. We had way more to give, as a team, with four good lines and six solid D, and obviously Quickie is playing well for us. It’s just a matter of doing the right things. When we do the right things, it’s tough on the other team.”

(on gaininig momentum from late-period goals…)
SMYTH: “That’s a momentum shifter, especially when you go in the locker room, thinking about what should have happened with 0.4 seconds left on the clock. We should have, would have, could have, instead of just going in with confidence and carrying some momentum.”
