Kings 2, Columbus 0

Hard to beat that start for the Kings. They killed a penalty, then Michal Handzus scored 5:29 into the first period, followed by an Anze Kopitar goal 49 seconds later.

Handzus took a nice cross-ice pass from Dustin Brown, bobbled the puck a bit, then took a shot that deflected off the stick of a Columbus defender into the net.

Less than a minute later, Davis Drewiske’s pass from the neutral zone found Kopitar heading into the offensive zone. Kopitar’s wrist shot from the high slot beat Steve Mason for a 2-0 lead 6:18 into the game.
