Statistical morning

It’s an 11 a.m. start to practice today, so I’ll be heading out soon. Until then, a couple stats…

As mentioned last night, Anze Kopitar is tied for the league lead in points (16) with Alexander Ovechkin. Ryan Smyth is tied for fourth place, two points back. Kopitar is also second in the league in goals (eight) behind Ovechkin and Ilya Kovalchuk. What’s interesting there is, Kopitar has scored his eight goals on 28 shots. Kovalchuk has scored nine goal on 27 shots. Ovechkin has scored nine goals on SIXTY-FIVE shots. He leads the league in shots on goal, by a mile. Marian Gaborik is second, with 43.

Among all 59 goalies who have played this season, Jonathan Quick is tied for 37th in save percentage, at .893. Also, Quick is in a five-way tie for second place in wins, with six.
