BROWN: “They got two power-play goals in the first, and then I thought we really took it to them in the second and third. It was 3-2 going into the third and they have a special player, Gaborik, who made a play to kind of ice it for them. They had one shot on goal (in the third) and that was it. I think we played a pretty good game, especially low in their zone. I thought we gave them some trouble, but they have a pretty good goaltender as well, who made a lot of big saves for them. It’s one of those things that you just try to take the positives out of. We have another game tomorrow night.’’

(on costly first-period penalties…)

BROWN: “Yeah. They came out pretty good in the first, and putting them on the power play, with their players, they’re going to take advantage of that.’’

(on whether he sees a difference from last season…)

BROWN: “Definitely. The feeling here tonight, going into the third, we felt this game was ours to have if we wanted it. They had two special players that made a lot of special plays out there tonight. Sometimes that happens in hockey. The other thing I’d say that’s different this year is, we came in after this game and realized it was a good game for us. I think we’re all comfortable with everything that happened tonight. It just didn’t go our way. We just have to forget about it and focus on Detroit.’’
